How Much Does It Cost to File For Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?
Our attorney fee for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is $575.00 in most cases. There is also a $335.00 filing fee to the Bankruptcy Court. If your net income is less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for your household size, you may be a good candidate for waiver of the filing fee. For more information on waiver of the filing fee see my article entitled, “Waiver of the Filing Fee for Filing a Bankruptcy.”
When you are filing for bankruptcy you are required to take two credit counseling courses. Those two courses together total $60.00. For more information on credit counseling see my article entitled, “The Credit Counseling and Debt Management Requirements In Bankruptcy.”
There is a $25.00 fee for pulling your credit report. This $25.00 does not go to our office it goes to the data provider. If you insist you do not want our office to pull your credit report you will not be charged $25.00 but also we will not pull your credit report. I highly recommend that this is $25.00 well spent to catch all the creditors who are on your credit report.
The above information is a general overview and is not intended to be used as legal advice. If you are considering filing for bankruptcy, the best thing to do is call our office at 248-557-3645 and schedule a free consultation so you can receive advice which is tailored to your specific circumstances.
