One major No Fault benefit that is often overlooked is medical mileage and transportation. When you are involved in a motor vehicle accident your insurance company is responsible for insuring you do not incur any loss for transportation to your appointment for treatment. Often times, an auto accident victim may be unable to drive or make it to their appointments. Therefore, your doctor or therapist may offer you a choice of a transportation company. However, you should only take this service if you really need it. If you are able to drive, and your insurance company is made aware of this, you will not be compensated for those expenses. Furthermore, you are able to ask for your insurance company to reimburse you for medical mileage when you drive yourself. Often times, auto accident victims may take transportation because it is more convenience. Later, the insurance company may obtain surveillance of that victim driving on or around the same day. This could be a basis for fraud and denial of a claim. Therefore, it is important to note that no matter how you get to your appointments, your insurance company is responsible to compensate you.
