FAQ

Frequently Asked questions

How long do I have to file a medical malpractice claim in Michigan?

Straight answers from The Law Offices of Joumana Kayrouz.

Michigan generally imposes a two-year limitations period for medical malpractice claims. However, discovery rules and other statutory provisions can change the deadline in specific circumstances.

MCL 600.5838a includes a six-month discovery provision and an outside six-year limit for many claims, subject to exceptions. Because timing rules can be complicated, have your specific dates reviewed promptly.
